It's been a while
Wow, that song's been out over 25 years? Who would have thought...
Well, I’ve had a little too much of a break since last being on here, so here’s a few updates.
I failed at First Draft November. Life got in the way, and I’d be damned if I was taking my laptop to Scotland to go visit my family and explore. Not to mention, working on THIS UNQUIET HOUSE came to a standstill at around 20k words, I read it back, hated most of it, and deleted back to 6k (oops) But that’s a good thing, as I’ve rediscovered my love of the outline, and know where I went wrong, so we’re almost at 10k again already!
I think I’m starting a patreon, as unlike here on the ‘stack or on Buymeacoffee, I don’t have to register with Stripe as a formal business for people to support my work. There’s a few posts ready to go on it, but I’m waiting for feedback before I pull the trigger and start actively pushing there.
I’ve been submitting to small presses and magazines for a couple of very short pieces that I’ve written, one of which being Glyph Lit Mag in Glasgow. They’re doing a Horror issue this time around which is right up my street, so I’m looking forward to seeing if they like some of my stuff!
In news absolutely unrelated to my writing in any way — other than the fact that a lot of what I write is spooky, sad or otherwise — I’ve pressed submit for what I think is the final musical album of my long-suffering Goth Rock outfit, FyreSky. Ghosts on the Wireless will be available on all good streaming services from Christmas Eve.
So for now, I sign off without my usual flair, as I scurryfunge (a fantastic word, look it up!) to get the house in order for hosting on Christmas Day.
I wish you all a wonderful Wintery Whatever-you-celebrate, and I’ll come back to Substack with real updates as soon as I can.
Screaming internally,
JGV

You deleted all of it but 6000 words? Tell me you saved it in a cut file please my kind, sir, my heart can’t take it.
